8 things to do after attending VO Atlanta, Take a breath....

Many of us gathered this weekend at VO Atlanta. Whew! What a ride! Over 1000 incredibly talented people, all in the same place, at the same time, taking the opportunity to meet, greet and learn.

voice over conference, VO Atlanta

We are still meeting people in person that we have only worked with online. The joyous din of these meetings, replete with hugs, squeals and tears was deafening but wonderful. If you attended, and you are home now, take a moment to breathe and reflect.

The high of going to a voice over conference is hard to come down from. You are left with so many "ups" from meeting folks like Tina Morasco or Melique Berger. Or you got to actually read in the Pandora Open read with Steve Pogash and David Cuetter, or you got to chat with J. Michael Collins about doing your new demo....but....take a breath!

This is definitely time to do a brain dump. For me, the old paper and pen method is best, but some folks can type faster than they can write. Whichever way is best for you, DO IT NOW! Before the rest of your life takes precedence in your mind. Here's how I do it:

  1. Make a list of all contacts you made.

  2. Notate next to that name a memory about that person to lock it into your brain.

  3. Find a contact email or link with them on social media

  4. Send "thank you notes" and recount your memory of them. Hopefully that will jog their memory.

  5. Make a list of ideas that popped into your mind while listening to the presenters or chatting with fellow attendees.

    1. this takes some meditation to re-count. Take your time with this in a quiet place!

  6. Prioritize this list

  7. Take the top three priorities and do them before the end of this week!

  8. Celebrate.

These might seem a little rudimentary, but using the KISS method works for me. If I met you at VOA, please reach out to me on social media....if not....reach out anyway!
